Beavers and Cubs are invited to join us on camp at Taw Bottom 28-30 Sep 2018. Beavers and Cubs will have separate pitches for camping but will be sharing cooking facilities. Taw Bottom is situated at South Tawton, near Okehampton. One of its boundaries is the River Taw. The site extends to 14 acres and includes extensive woodland with various campsites and facilities, including flush toilets, showers and covered shelters. As well as practising our camping skills, we’ll be taking full advantage of the wonderful woodlands for games and outdoor activities. The cost is £30 per person.
To book your place download and complete the Nights Away form using the link below, and return this to Simon Miles, Group Scout Leader, with payment by Wed 19 Sep.
Location and Directions
Taw Bottom Campsite is located at Taw Bottom, South Tawton, Devon EX20 2LP. Click on the link below to download a map. From Okehampton take the B3260 to Sticklepath, bear left to South Zeal and follow the sign left to South Tawton. Continue into the village and past the church. The road bends road to the left. After approx 100m turn left into an unmarked unmade lane going uphill at an angle to the road (Note: it is the last left turning before you go over the A30, so if you cross the A30 you have gone too far). Turn immediately left and follow the lane down the hill. At the bottom of the hill turn left through the gate and continue to the end of the lane, which leads to the campsite main car park.
There are several separate campsites on the site. We are camping at Beech and Hawthorn campsites – click on the link below to download a plan of the site. Young people can either walk round with their kit (about 5 minutes) or you can drop off only by car at the small car park circled on the plan. Please check in with leaders on arrival and departure.
