Scouts (10.5-14 years) take part in a wide range of activities designed to help them stay fit and healthy, learn new activities, develop their skills and realise their potential. Sometimes we go further afield and undertake more adventurous activities, such as canoeing, climbing, hiking, camping, shooting and archery.
For older children their is a county-wide Explorer section providing a great opportunity for young people to continue their scouting development, including through the young leader training programme and Duke of Edinburgh awards. Scouts and Explorers should be prepared to take full advantage of our surroundings, so please come equipped with a suitable small rucksack, outdoor clothing and equipment.
Fees and Uniform
We charge £30 per child per term. This covers our basic costs, including insurance and hall hire. If you’re new to the Group, there is a further one-off £5 registration fee, which includes the cost of a scarf and woggle. In addition, you will need to buy a uniform. Full waterproof clothing (jacket, trousers and boots) is also required.
Scout groups are run entirely by volunteers, including our regular leaders. That means we rely on parents to help us run our activities and keep everyone happy and safe. We ask all parents to commit to at least one session per term. It’s easy and fun and, if you want to volunteer for a more active role, there are lots of ways you can get involved.
Autumn Term 2014
For the autumn term we’ll be camping and hiking overnight, practising our navigation skills and getting to grips with the environment of the open moor. There’ll be lots of fun and games along the way, including campfire songs and sketches.
